I grew up with the web.

Born in Norway, raised in Pakistan, building things in England. Designer, developer, entrepreneur — in that order, roughly, and all at once ever since.

I started making things before making things was a job title. The first tools were a text editor and a View Source menu, and the first question was the one I still ask: can I build it myself?

The short version: born in Norway in 1983, in Pakistan from the age of five, back in Norway from 2001, briefly in the UK, back in Pakistan to finish studying, and in England since 2008 — where I took a postgraduate diploma and later started a company.

Formal training followed the curiosity rather than replacing it — an HND (Level 5) in Digital Arts, awarded through Edexcel and studied in Pakistan, then a Postgraduate Diploma in Art & Design / Visual Communications at the University of Wolverhampton after moving to England in 2008. Design taught me why things work, not just how to make them.

From there the work kept moving down the stack: interfaces, then applications, then the servers underneath them. In 2015 that became a company — AbsoluteByte. Along the way, photography and film became the other half of the practice.
